Remo SV aquatic drone – DRONELIFE

from the floor of Smart Geo Expo South Korea this week: UCON Systems Remo-SV and mapping service providers Hojun Solutions is a project of the Environmental and Geographic Information Services Center of the Bangladesh Ministry of Water (CEGIS), addressing water quality in Bangladesh.

Flood management, pollution monitoring

Known for its lush greenery and numerous lakes and rivers, Bangladesh’s waterways are a valuable resource. Bangladesh depends on rivers for transportation, drinking water and food. The rivers and lakes that give Bangladesh its unique topography also pose regular risks. From June to October, rivers flood and flood the countryside. As Bangladesh’s industrialization progresses, pollution from both domestic factories and neighboring upstream factories threatens water quality.

The team at Hojung Solutions works with partners at UCON Systems to tackle water pollution and flood planning in rivers using Remo-SV aquatic drones. Remo-SV’s sensors measure temperature, salinity, oxygen levels and more in the water. Drones travel a predefined mission path so they can regularly sample in places that are normally unreachable by boat, explained Sunho Shin, his assistant and manager at Hojung Solutions. increase.

“Temperature is very important because fish need the best conditions. Salinity and oxygenation determine whether the water is potable or can be used for agriculture,” Singh says. explains. “We monitor currents, Ph, and other chemicals such as ammonia in water.”

“Water quality, something Bangladeshi engineers have been doing for years, has traditionally been measured manually point-by-point. We can get it quickly.” Hojung trains local staff to continue the project after skill transfer. Depth measurements are taken as Remo-SV moves. Depth measurements are used to model channel floors to improve flood forecasting and simulation, potentially protecting soil and saving lives.

Make aquaculture more efficient

In addition to traveling rivers and lakes, Hojung is working with the Bangladesh Fisheries Department of the Ministry of Water Resources to improve the safety and efficiency of their farms.

“In fisheries, Remo-SV can be used to measure water quality and prevent overfeeding,” Shin explains. “We can monitor water quality to estimate how much food the fish need. Effective water extraction allows fisheries to work more efficiently and ensure food supplies for one of the world’s most populous nations.
