drone shield announced the release of a major firmware update for its Global Fleet of Counter Drones (C-UAS) device. With the global introduction of remote ID laws, drone manufacturers have developed their own remote ID approaches, which are becoming increasingly important in managing low-level airspace.
Using DroneShield’s DroneLocator technology, the company’s devices are now able to detect a variety of remote ID signals, including those previously only available through the DJI AeroScope product. DroneLocator can display important information such as drone position, home location, serial number, speed, and pilot position. These improvements are available for human portable products, vehicles/vessels, and fixed site products.
Registered devices will also receive quarterly updates to the DroneShield RFAI artificial intelligence engine that provides solutions against illegal, unregistered and hostile drones. DroneShield RFAI can run concurrently with DroneLocator on a single he DroneShield device, DroneShield products perform AI processing at the edge. Both solutions can work without internet connection.
DroneLocator technology significantly increases the applications of DroneShield products such as C-UAS, Unmanned Aerial System Traffic Management (UTM), Low Altitude Airspace Surveillance, Drone Security, and Drone Fleet Management Extensions. This update also includes performance enhancements in noisy environments, maps available on embedded devices, and graphical user interface improvements.
DroneShield CTO Angus Bean said, “The addition of DroneLocator to our detection technology suite is a continuation of our long-term strategy of providing significant enhancements to our existing portfolio through our software subscription model.” said. “We are excited to make this technology immediately available to all of our existing end-user communities. This technology has been highly requested by C-UAS and adjacent industries.”
