Archer Aviation, a San Jose-based eVTOL development company, recently hosted an event with the Federal Advanced Air Mobility Interagency Working Group to showcase new eVTOL technology at its facility. A working group of representatives from the FAA, NASA, the White House and many other government agencies is exploring new investment opportunities in advanced air mobility. They define it as “a transportation system that moves people and property.” Fly in controlled and uncontrolled airspace within the United States using highly automated aircraft with advanced technology. First unveiled late last year, Archer’s new ‘Midnight’ eVTOL features advanced technology, including his 12-tilt-6 configuration that is unique, and certainly fits the bill.
About 70 delegates watched the live flight test of the “Midnight” eVTOL. The eVTOL is about 1000 times quieter than a helicopter and can fly a stint of 20 minutes with minimal charging time at a range of about 160 miles. His CEO at Archer, Adam Goldstein, said in a recent press release: “For many of our guests, this was the first time they were able to witness a flight of an eVTOL aircraft in person. and demonstrated the benefits of low noise.”
Archer Aviation recently made headlines with the hiring of Billy Nollen, a former acting FAA administrator who defended the AAM during his tenure. By hiring Nolen and hosting a high-profile event like this one, Archer demonstrates its close ties with U.S. regulators, which could lead to a surge in the company’s share price seeking approval Wednesday at midnight. was a factor. The FAA has recently been devoting more resources to the regulation and development of advanced air mobility (publishing Midnight eVTOL airworthiness standards in December), and the recent passage of the Federal Advanced Air Mobility Act is an indication that the government is committed to air mobility. It highlighted the recognition of the enormous potential. US AAM sector. Overall, Archer’s efforts to bring its eVTOL to the commercial market by 2025 are encouraging and represent an important step for the development of the American AAM industry and eVTOL around the world.
