Michael Merritt is the Commercial and Growth Manager for Skyports Drone Services. Skyports Drone Services is a drone logistics company and provider and operator of his eVTOL drones for cargo delivery, survey and surveillance. The company is an expert in long-range and BVLOS flight operations in numerous use cases, including land and sea applications, medical and hazardous materials delivery, and AI-driven research for agriculture and agriculture. infrastructure department. At Skyports, Michael leads strategy and operations, specifically in the area of drone delivery. Michael studied as an aerospace engineer at the University of Bristol and holds a general vision certificate in operating fixed-wing and rotary drones.
Skyports Drone Services recently announced the launch of the Orkney I-Port Project, an all-electric drone logistics project established in partnership with the Royal Mail, Orkney Islands Council Port Authority and Loganair. The project will provide two of his new features: daily port-to-port delivery and land-to-ship delivery demonstrations of Royal Mail merchandise. The I-Port project is significant as it will be the UK’s first drone delivery project to operate permanently under the existing regulatory framework, a milestone made possible by the unique geography of the Orkney Islands.
