RGB61: New Payload for Wingtra VTOL Mapping Drones
DRONELIFE Staff Writer Ian M. Crosby
Major VTOL drone manufacturer wing tiger unveiled the new RGB61 Sensor payload.Compatible with WingtraOne GEN II Drone, RGB61 paves the way forward for the entire drone mapping industry. The Sony Alpha 7 Mark IV 61MP RGB camera is customized to provide the most efficient datalight UAV data solution available with in-app light settings control and ultra-precise image capture.
“With RGB61, 600 hectares (1480 ac) can be captured in two flights instead of three, processing 40% less data for the same area, allowing customers to map larger areas in a tighter time frame. And we can do more projects with dramatically reduced turnaround times,” said Julian Mackern, Wingtra Product Manager. “Imagine a project that used to take nine hours of flight time now takes six hours and can process about half the images, because that’s what this payload can do. The details are richer.”
The RGB61 is an overall improvement over Wingtra’s previous flagship payload, the RX1R II, which flies at 120 m (400 ft) with 60% overlap. The RGB61 features a high quality 24mm lens to optimize data capture efficiency and prevent distortion. Enhanced image quality allows you to identify key features on the map and better identify coincident points on the map. Photogrammetric post-processing software. The payload is also highly integrated with WingtraOne’s mission planning app. wing tiger pilotallowing for precise control under varying lighting conditions.
“This RGB61 integration gives our customers a quick and intuitive way to ensure images are of the highest quality,” explained McCann. “WingtraPilot’s menu he just taps an option and it selects camera settings that are appropriate for the light levels on the project site.”
RGB61 offers optimum accuracy through integration with the advanced PPK GNSS data correction system. With RGB61, customers maintain the ability to produce survey-grade results and crisp images with minimal ground control from each flight of the WingtraOne GEN II VTOL fixed-wing drone. Partnerships with leading companies such as Propeller and Pix4D also support new levels of resolution.
“Our customers are working on highly sensitive projects such as airport runway mapping or projects where flight times may be restricted due to weather. is key to saving costs, ensuring personnel safety and delivering timely results to stakeholders,” said Marcos Baelo, Wingtra Vice President of Products. “From flight to deliverable, the RGB61 delivers exactly this without compromising on accuracy or image quality. We are confident and excited that it will provide the above benefits.”
