Nuclear Drones: Flyability Teams Up with Million Technologies to Support Operators
DRONELIFE Staff Writer Ian M. Crosby
Swiss drone company Flyability announced a collaboration with Million Technologies, a leading provider of radiation detection, measurement, analysis and monitoring solutions. Under the new contract, the Mirion RDS-32™ radiation survey meter will be integrated into Flyability’s Elios 3 indoor drone, enabling nuclear operators to collect accurate radiation data remotely, allowing nuclear personnel to monitor radiation exposure areas during data collection. You will be able to safely stay outside. This data is available for post-processing both during and after flight.
Flyability CEO Patrick Thevoz said: “This collaboration will enable Flyability’s nuclear customers to take advantage of the best data collection tools available to their operations, reducing the need for worker exposure to harmful radiation and the dangers of entering confined spaces. It helps greatly reduce the need for exposure, and we do regular checks.”
To test the use of the Million Radiation Survey Meter inside the Elios 3 drone, Flyability Idaho Environmental Coalition (IEC), and with multiple energy companies in the US and Europe.of IEC missiontested LiDAR and radiation data collection inside a vault built to house radioactive waste. The success of the work provided the data necessary to proceed with detailed plans for waste removal.
“Mirion is excited to work with Flyability to improve radiation safety at nuclear facilities. Enables access to hazardous and remote locations Million equipment is widely used in nuclear facilities, allowing customers to leverage their current programming and operating proficiency to improve safety .”
Other missions completed with major nuclear power companies have demonstrated the ability to continuously conduct remote radiation surveys using the Elios 3’s onboard RDS-32 meters. -Gigawatt plant.
Alexandre Meldem, Managing Director, Americas, Flyability Inc., said: The agreement with , Million will significantly improve operations and provide an even greater ability to keep engineers safe by reducing radiation exposure. We really look forward to seeing this partnership flourish. ”
FlyAbility will be exhibiting at the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis at the 2023 National Radiological Emergency Preparedness (NREP) Conference April 3-6 in Indianapolis.
