โIt wouldn’t be a BRINC demo without a shard of glass,โ joked Blake Resnick, founder and CEO of BRINC. A glazing attachment that allows the LEMUR 2 to enter buildings.

This glass breaker has been part of the dedicated LEMUR solution since its inception, but the newly released LEMUR 2 adds a vast array of new features and improvements.
BRINC is a 100% US based manufacturer of NDAA compliant public safety drones. Today, BRINC officially unveiled its next generation drone, the LEMUR 2. It will mitigate conflict without putting individuals at risk,” the announcement said.
Founded in 2018, BRINC has been dedicated to developing purpose-built tools for public safety since its inception. LEMUR has brought incredible capabilities to SWAT operations based on specific feedback. Super-resilient airframes, turtle mode, two-way communication, small parcel delivery, and more. โToday, the latest iteration of his LEMUR 2 drone takes drone technology even further with the introduction of his layer of intelligent software,โ the announcement said.
LEMUR 2: New Features, New Sensors, New Software
From the beginning, the BRINC team has considered all customer comments to deliver the features and nuances that make LEMUR 2 an essential tool for de-escalation. Features range from remote controllers that are full-fledged computers to touch screens that are compatible with tactical gloves.
“The number of small upgrades we’ve done is really staggering,” Resnick tells DRONELIFE. โA significantly upgraded battery, 20 minutes flight time, fully manual mode, higher water resistanceโฆall based on customer experience.โ
LEMUR 2 builds on LEMUR’s technological breakthroughs, such as the unique BRINC Autonomy Engine, which enables the drone’s onboard LiDAR sensor to create a 3D map of its surroundings in real-time, enabling a suite of features. We are introducing new features. This includes 360-degree standby hovering that does not rely on lights or GPS systems, and obstacle recognition that dynamically adjusts speed around objects while giving the drone operator full control for tactical maneuvers. system is included. Just as the Autonomy Engine simplifies operations, it keeps law enforcement and emergency services informed by providing users with easy-to-interpret 2D floor plans in real time.
LEMUR 2’s new sensor array combines over 10 unique systems to support autonomous systems, visual/night/thermal imaging, and two-way communication. “This includes a LiDAR sensor, a tracking camera, two IR spotlights, a white light spotlight, a 4K camera, a FLIR thermal imager, a microphone and loudspeakers,” the announcement said.
Video and data are sent locally to a custom BRINC controller and encrypted using the AES-256 protocol. LEMUR 2 also supports mesh networking, allowing multiple drones to extend range of each other in large buildings or underground. An integrated 4G LTE powered connection allows the LEMUR 2 drone to securely stream live camera views and 2D floor plans to offsite stakeholders via the new BRINC LiveOps web platform.
The new features are all improvements that have tangible benefits for law enforcement officers, from the safe and rapid removal of buildings to the establishment of communications with suspects, and the potential for safe outcomes for all parties involved. proven to increase dramatically.
โOn the pilot system side, we knew from the start that it was going to be something we had to pick up and use to achieve scale,โ says Resnick. โWe also knew we would need to operate in GPS-denied situations, so we knew we needed autonomy.
Signal intrusion is solved with the mesh networking feature. There are still many cases where the signal needs to be improved, but it is difficult with many concrete walls. This solution addresses that issue. “
During the demo, DRONELIFE asked BRINC customers to comment on the new features LEMUR 2 offers. Officer Matt Rowland, Fort Wayne Air Support Force, Indiana, said: “They took everything we’ve said over the last few years and created exactly the product we were looking for.”
BRINC manufactures all of its products in the USA and sources the majority of its components from the USA. BRINC is vertically integrated to co-locate R&D and production with its headquarters in Seattle and manage its supply chain. The BRINC LEMUR 2 complies with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and is approved by the US government for use by federal agencies and contractors. BRINC is also investing in a safer tomorrow by developing a network of docked drone systems to respond quickly and effectively to 911 calls, reducing response time from minutes to hours to seconds. increase. .
