Utah government tours Teal Drones headquarters to discuss state support for Utah’s defense industry

military technology company Red Cat Holdings announced Utah Governor Spencer Cox Visit the Salt Lake City headquarters of our subsidiary, teal drone, 25 January. The visit was organized to help educate the Governor not only about the opportunities and challenges facing Utah’s industry, but also about the company’s operations and its national impact.
George Matus, Founder and CEO of Teal, said: “The sky is literally the limit for Teal, and we appreciate the governor’s interest in helping grow our company and Utah’s broader aerospace and defense sector.”
The tour met with heads of various departments and provided the Governor with a wealth of information on the engineering, testing, manufacturing, supply chain and compliance of Teal’s military drone products.
“For too long, we have ceded drone manufacturing to China and elsewhere,” said Cox. “We are taking it back and Utah is at the heart of it. Teal is a great company making a difference with their defense-focused drones.”
Teal Drones are “Blue UAS” certified and are marked as select manufacturers authorized to provide equipment to the US military. The company is also one of three drone manufacturers invited to participate in the US Army’s drone competition. Short Range Reconnaissance Tranche 2 (SRR T2) program. The SRR T2 program aims to develop a portable small unmanned aerial system (sUAS) that will be deployed by military platoons to conduct surveillance and reconnaissance operations and enhance situational awareness.
The governor’s visit was recently formed Utah Aerospace Defense Association (UADA), was founded in 2022 to address challenges related to innovation, entrepreneurship, workforce development and supply chains for aerospace and defense companies. UADA works with the Governor’s Office, the Utah Higher Education System, and industry leaders.
“Teal is deepening its relationship with UADA to accelerate the rebuilding of America’s defense industrial base, especially for drones,” said Matus. “UADA has expressed its support for our company and looks forward to our continued relationship with the Association and the Governor’s Office.”
