Insight from the List: It’s a Wide Open Field
The full report lists the top 20 drone service providers in both categories. As commercial drone operations grow, drone service providers will become more important.
Eight of the top 20 companies, including the top three drone delivery service providers, are based in the United States, but Zanelli notes that their main operations are in other countries. For remote sensing, Aerodyne is number one, but the rest of the list is globally diverse. “…best companies for remote sensing, the top 20 he only includes five American companies. It’s not as big as it seems at first.”
In addition to being geographically diverse, few of the companies that make the list of top drone service providers are backed by large corporations.
Energy remains the largest customer for remote sensing drone service providers.
Whether a company outsources drone operations or establishes an in-house drone team depends on many factors. Energy is currently the largest customer for DSPs. “As expected, nearly all of the top 20 remote sensing Companies prioritize and actively engage in the energy industry (utilities). This is not only a major industry in terms of utility and associated money importance, but also the way drone technology uniquely improves efficiency, safety, and savings in both time and money.” he writes Zanelli.
