Open for submissions from November 9, 2022 to January 30, 2023, this year’s SkyPixel competition invites photo and video creators to explore the “story behind” their aerial photography and handheld creations. Seeking to inspire the community. As the creative imaging community grows, DJI and SkyPixel hope that the rich aerial stories created by drone technology will inspire more people to capture their own creative work. I’m here.
With a central theme of ‘The Story Behind’, this year’s competition puts a strong emphasis on storytelling, allowing participants to see their messages and meanings communicated through their submissions. The video contest has 10 categories: Nature, City, Travel, Sports, Story, and Vertical. The photo contest has 10 categories: Nature, Architecture, Portrait, and Sports. There are no restrictions on the type or brand of drone used, and participants are free to post as many photos and videos as they like. Video submissions must be between 30 seconds and 5 minutes long.
The judging panel for the competition was Claudio Miranda (Academy Award Winning Cinematographer), Ann Farah (Deputy Editor of Photography for National Geographic Magazine), Phil Pasthoff (The Lord of the Rings) and Hasselblad Master Benjamin Everett, Air Pixels founder Tobias Hegg, photographer George Steinmetz, director of photography Toby Strong, cinematographer Yu Jinping, and photographer Wang Ning.
In this year’s competition, SkyPixel and DJI will award over 42 prizes worth a combined $143,000. One of his winners in both the Video Contest and Photo Contest will receive a Hasselblad 907X Anniversary Edition kit, trophy and certificate. Winners in other categories will receive prizes such as a DJI Mavic 3, Osmo Action 3 and his $13,700 in DJI credits. The award announcement will be on his March 3, 2023.
